Hello Carpenters!
Exciting week ahead.
Just kidding, you'll begin with more math on monday.
Then it really does get exciting, as it is tool week. We'll have two days of hand tools on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by power tools on Thursday and Friday.
With your hand tool training you will receive your tool belt and all the awesome hand tools that come with the course. You will want to make sure you are prepared for these tools. Have a sharpie on hand so you can label them. As I mentioned previously, I recommend the purchase of a good, water resistant tool bag that you can use to transport your tools and other stuff back and forth from the jobsite. This might be a good time to invest in such a bag, as then you'll have some place to put your tools.
Also, though we take all the normal reasonable security measures at Canadore, we have had instances in the past where students have left their tools in the shop and subsequently had them stolen. I'd like to think those occurrences were simply misunderstandings, where another student mistook the tools for their own, but all the same, you will probably want either to take your tools home with you at night, or secure them in a locker. If you do not yet have a locker, speak with Alanna or Teddy in the office.
Finally, as always, make sure you have your safety boots, glasses, and lids this week as we'll be doing multiple tool demonstrations.
See you Tuesday!
